Five Easy Ways to Tell If Someone Bluffs in Poker
5 Ways to tell if someone is playing poker bluff
1. Talking Too Much - False Bravado
Sometimes, players who talk too much (or more than usual) during a hand are bluffing. This is an easy sign to notice in both online and live poker.
Because poker is a game where people are stronger when they are weak, and weaker when they are strong. This is an important principle to keep in your mind.
If someone suddenly becomes overconfident, bragging or talking a lot during a handshake, it is usually a sign they are weak. It could also be a sign they are lying.
You should be wary of a man who suddenly becomes silent, perhaps with shaky hands, and takes a deep breath when he places a big wager. This guy has all the nuts!
2. Don't Act Too Quickly
If you like to play online poker, it is essential that you can recognize the timing signs. Acting too quickly is one of the classic timing indicators.
This happens often when a recreational player calls you preflop, then immediately bets into it on the flip. This is also a favorite game on the river, which I will talk about later.
It is almost always a sign weakness to make a quick bet. A strong hand will take you longer to figure out how to maximize your value.
On the other hand, this is an example where a recreational player of poker is not bluffing. They lead to 3 people. Raise Flop Percentage Above 20%
One of the best things about online poker is that you can easily use a HUD, such as PokerTracker, to spot irregularities in a player's play.
Raise Flop% is my favorite stat to study. The majority of players will raise the flop less than 10% of the time.
This includes the majority of their big hands (sets/trips, overpairs and two pairs) as well their big combo draws.
Here is an example for a big combo draw (pair+flush). As they should, a lot of people will raise this big 12+ out draw on the flop.

I can tell if someone raises the flop 20 percent or higher, that they are likely to be too bluffy.
They might be raising the majority of their regular flushes, straight draws, and even some weaker cards and total air from now on.
Remember that a Raise Flop% above 20+ doesn’t necessarily mean this player is lying to you.
This does not mean that they are more likely to play bluff than other players. Also, they are more likely to raise you on the turn with bluffs.

4. 3Bet Percentage Based on Position
A quick way to spot a player who is playing bluff in online poker is to look at their 3Bet% per position.
Many people simply look at the 3Bet% statistic. This is fine. This stat, however, is just half the story.
Sometimes, with regulars, it is easy to see how they abuse the button by pulling up the popup and looking at their 3Bet% position.
5. Story Doesn’t Make Sense
The Micro Stakes Playbook discusses the importance of telling a compelling story to make a bluff. In other words, is your bluff logicable given your probable range and board runout?
Here's an example:
You can get a raise with TT in an early position
Recreational players call you in the bigblind.
The flop happens:
489
The recreational player reviews
You make a continuation betting bet
The recreational player is called
The time has come:
2
The recreational player reviews
You will place another continuation wager
The recreational player calls
The river flows:
2
The recreational player starts with a large bet
What should I do?
This player lies a lot because he doesn't understand his story.
Numerous straight draws and flush draw occurred on the flop. However, we can see that each one of them was missed by the river.
What is this player really trying to tell us? They tell us a story that makes no sense. Poker Bluffing - Do You know Why it's Not So Effective Online?
